There are people on this TA who have posted the CD before...
Where do you live? That may be important for postage costs, etc ;)

Browse All TopicsHi,
I am a new and very eager to learn Java, i wanted to download a Java compiler from http://java.sun.com/j2se/1
How can i obtain this program? Sometimes when i'm downloading something and i get disconnected the computer/ browser picks the download up from where it left off. However this only happens sometimes, how can i make it happen all the time so that i can obtain the software? If this is not possible, am i able to purchase a retail version of the compiler?
My typical download speed is about 6 kb/sec, i am running Windows 98 with Internet Explorer 5.
Your help is much appreciated.
PS. I am sorry if i posted this message on the wrong section, but i thought you guys might know some way of obtaining or purchasing this software.

Try using getright (www.getright.com) to download it, if it fails you can go back to the site again and get the active link again and it will continue where it left off.
The java site suports resume. And its pretty faster like 500kb/s for me :)
I remember the good old 56k days.
Try these other links if they dont work ...
ftp.netis.ru/pub/software/
ftp.simtel.ru/pub/Java/JDK
ftp.informatik.uni-bonn.de
Hiiiiiiiii Samsungfanatic:
I am impressed with your enthu.
why dont you try downloading through FTP?
FTP is recommended for larger file downloads...and if you get disconnected you can always resume the download from where you left, using "reget" command.
just give reget <last received byte>
if you dont like this trouble then there are some free ftp clients, which provide this facility.
I am sure you will get it.
hope this helps!!
let me know !

Hai,
Is the problem with the ISP ,that disconnects u every two hours ? or u might have to change
some settings in ur modem conn..let me know b'cos 56k modem has nothing to do with frequent
disconnection ..
Try to get a download manager like DAP..which'll solve ur issue( can resume download if interrupted)
or go for FTP as suggested by other experts.
Regards..
Here is a slightly different option. Go on down to the local bookstore, one of the ones that carry a good computer section. Browser through the magazines and see if you can find one with the SDK on it. I have had enough cd's accompanying the magazines that had the Java SDK in it. That will also give you something good to read.
Tom
I guess your connection is rather slow even using FTP might takes many many days..
Suggest that you get a book with CD-ROM such as
Core Java 2, Volume II: Advanced Features (5th Edition)
ISBN: 0130927384
The CD-ROM contains Forte for Java and Java 2 SDK
Forte is the IDE to help you compile your code :) etc

Your best bet is to find somebody with broadband and use their machine and save it to CD. AFAIK not available otherwise on disk.
