The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Deployment issue

Asked by RodionP in Java Programming Language, Delphi.net Programming

Tags: include, jar, java

Hello,
I have over 100 .java files (about 100 classes and about 130 including private classes) that I need to compile and create a runnable (.jar)
I have over 20 packages, including externals

At this point I realize that I have to download JDK 1.4 + and JVM. And I need to make some kind of intallation file so it can be deployed at the clients' side. SO preferably I want to include JVM in my installation package.

Also I have difficult dependecies on other packes (like mmsql package that i had to download separately, and many more that my soft rely on)

So my questions are:

1) Where do I download JDK 1.4
2) How do I compile all that files (they all sit in different folders as they are in different packages)
3) How do I create installation files that will deploy on the end users' side. - Optinal (if there is not nice install file, I'll just have it as one .jar file)
4) How do I incorporate JVM into my product (and can I distribute JVM freely ? or I have to send them to download JVM on their own) - Optional
5) How do I incorporate external packages so that my final product will be able to use them in release.
6) I need to deploy all that in .jar file
7) This was primarily designed fro windows, so if it is possible I need to make an .exe
8) I have files (like .png, .wav, .jpg that my program uses) so these have to go into deploy package somehow as well

I put 500 points for that question as it is very important for me at the moment, I will see if I can raise it more, but I need detailed explanation. I am experienced in Java programming, but I never had to face deployment issue, and it is very crucial for me at the moment.

I do not want to use any 3rd party installationa tools, I need it done using only what sun provides.

Thank you
