How to create a window (GUI) application using NetBeans

I'm trying out NetBeans for the first time, but I don't have a clue as to how to create a simple hello world window application.

Can someone please give me some simle instructions?

Is there any frame work in Java that is similar to the Doc/View frame work for MFC?
