Question

JTextPane - Colour specific words

Asked by: DrWarezz

Hello,

I'm looking for some example code, that demonstrates how to create a JTextPane, that when you type a certain word, that particular word changes colour... Just like Source Code Editors (in IDEs).

For example, the default font is size 10, colour #333333, and face Tahoma. The user can type whatever they want,m but every time they type the word "hello"; the word "hello" must turn blue, and bold. But straight after that, the font turns back to default.

Being programmers, I'm sure you all know exactly what I'm on about.. any examples please? :-)

Thanks in advance,
[r.D]

Hi DrWarezz,

I don't know Java much but can tell you the algorithm.
First put an event handler to check the change in text like "Text1_Change" in VB
Search for the word and get the position.
If word is found, change the format.

Bye

Thanks very much..

Is there a way to stop the caret from forcing itself to the end of the text area?? Because you can use backspace, nor go through the code, and make other alterations..

?

Thanks,
[r.D]

>"Because you can use backspace"
should be:

Because you can NOT use backspace...
