Question

the jar file of my application is executed but the application doesn't appear on the screen when I use the method createBrowser() specific to a library in order to embed Internet Explorer

Asked by: pofpof98

Hello

In my application, I'm using a library called Jexplorer (which enable to have internet explorer in a swing component)  and I have created an executable
jar file. In the manifest.mf file, I have indicated the path of the libraries.

Without using the method _browserPane.createBrowser, the jar file can be executed successfully
but when I use _browserPane.createBrowser() in my application, the jar is executed but we the application doesn't appear on the screen.

The method createBrowser() is specific to the jexplorer library , so does the problem comes from the jexplorer library?
If it isn't a bug of the jexplorer library, How can I resolve this problem in order to be able to execute my application using the whole functionnalities of jexplorer library?

Thanks
Regards

what does it do when you run it from the command line?

java -jar nameofjarfile.jar

by: pofpof98Posted on 2005-09-01 at 09:00:29ID: 14803349

When I do the following command line :
jdk1.4\bin\java -jar -classpath "..."  nameofjarfile.jar
It runs successfully
But when I use Java\jdk1.5.0\bin\java -jar "..."  nameofjarfile.jar, I hava the same problem

Is it possible to  use the same jdk 1.5.0 with jbuilder 2005
?

by: TimYatesPosted on 2005-09-01 at 09:09:25ID: 14803452

>> Java\jdk1.5.0\bin\java -jar "..."  nameofjarfile.jar

what's the "..." bit?

And if it's an executable jar, (which I assume you are double clicking on normally), simply:

java -jar nameofjarfile.jar

should work, as I said above...

You'll need to include any native libraries into the java.library.path

java -jar -Djava.library.path=. nameofjarfile.jar

by: matthewdflemingPosted on 2005-09-01 at 13:57:46ID: 14805918

The root of your problem is that you are missing a dll (native library).  The dll you are missing is more than likely jniwrap.dll.  This is the wrapper to all of the windows dlls used by JExplorer.  The quick an dirty solution is to copy jniwrap.dll into your windows/system32 folder (in effect putting it into your java.library.path).  I also had to download a license file that needs to exist in the same folder as the dll.

Once you get that going then you can mess with the -Djava.library.path=xxxx option if you want.

Why don't you use the JDIC framework for incorporating the IE Eplorer to the swing component? Its a free and comes with Java( jdk1.5 ) for other older( but greater than 1.4.02 :)  ) versions, available as separate jar files!

And in your application with Jexplorer, it doesn't seem a issue with java.library.path.

>>_browserPane.createBrowser()

what it returns? panel/canvas?
