convert values and put it back in Array

hi guys

I have an array like this

CriteriaVO[] searchCriteria;

searchCriteria  can contain multiple values like this

[RangerId = 100, date BETWEEN Sun Nov 11 00:00:00 EST 2007, Wed Jul 02 23:59:00 EDT 2008]

or

[RangerId BETWEEN   100,1400, date BETWEEN Sun Nov 11 00:00:00 EST 2007, Wed Jul 02 23:59:00 EDT 2008]

or

[RangerId  BETWEEN 100,1400, date = Sun Nov 11 00:00:00 EST 2007]


My requirment is to convert the Date to String format and save it back in the searchCriteria array.
I already have a method called Utility.dateToString(Date dt, String format)  which converts
the Date (example Sun Nov 11 00:00:00 EST 2007) to String like 11/11/2007




Any idea how i can iterate through the array and if it contains a Date , conver it to String
using my Utility.dateToString method and put it back in the searchCriteria array

so my array would look something like
[RangerId = 100, date BETWEEN 11/11/2007, 07/02/2008]

Any help greatly appreciated
