its a question regarding programming knowledge versus programming ability :)

stick at it, as a junior its not really your job to be designing db or chat applications. Those skills can only be gained through experience.  We get a lot of developers (especially juniors) coming to us that have too much expected of them or simply have no where to turn when they get stuck on a problem. Its a shame, as what you need is guidance and coaching, but unfortunately a lot of managers have pressures on them  such that they don't have time for doing it.

You don't need to re-invent the wheel, you just need to identify into which design pattern your applicaiton falls in to.
Check :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_pattern_(computer_science)

Don't worry much about these things. As you are a fresher, you won't be put into machine criticial applications :). Just enjoy the early days as a fresher in the IT industry. Just refer to the legacy project documentation. You can understand so much from that.

Just bug your colleagues for any doubts. Experience teaches you more :)

yes exactlyyyy the same thing happening here..:(....one example i m giving--
1)my boss asked me to generate a pdf report using ITEXT open source
2)i searched internet and found this code ( http://www.java2s.com/Tutorial/Java/0419__PDF/ParsingHtmlSnippets.htm ).it generates pdf from html
3)my boss was very impressed
4)but the problem was our page was in JSP
5)HERE I STUCKED
6)I asked him and he just dais use ajax
7)i knew ajax ,jsp, html and everything but still i could figure it out
8)then he helped and finally we used ajax to extract the html content of that page and generate pdf output

so you see i have the programming knowledge but i am afraid I dont have the problem solving capabilities

Having knowledge but not knowing how to apply it efficiently and effectively can be quite frustrating. Be encouraged by knowing that by asking the question you both demonstrate awareness of your own inadequacies as well as a desire to improve. Too many people that I have worked with in this industry fail at one or both of those things. Ultimately, the question is whether you love what you are doing. If so, then the desire to "be good at it" will drive you to improve. If not, you will likely never surpass the mediocre.

Here is some suggested reading material for you. Not that reading alone will make you better. But getting inside the heads of experienced and accomplished software craftsman, understanding how and why they practice their craft, and seeking to emulate their thinking will definitely set you on the road of improvement.
