simplify if conditions

brainer teaser, it was on an old college paper i found while cleaning up the stuff, saw i got it wrong and never found the right answer.  If you have some code such as below, how do you simplify them in java other than the following:

1) union the "if"s into 1 big if
2) take them out into a  separate method with a boolean return.

If the if conditions are based on primitives, then in the most simplest form you could use switch statement.

If not, the best way to go about it is to use a Factory or Abstract Factory pattern where you pass the key differenticator and have the Factory return the different objects.

Again, the devil is in the details.  Depending on exactly what the predicates are, using a Karnaugh map to reduce the complexity of the combined predicate may produce the optimal result.
