Java, copy file and preserve permission

Hi,

I would like to copy a file from one dir to another and preserve the permission.
On unix, after the file is copied, the permission is not preserved.
thoughts? I'm using FileOutputStream to write to file.

java will not do that for you unfortunately

is that a way to to know if the file can execute in java5?  I know it can in java6.
