Browse All TopicsWindow opens with text field populated with some default text, put there with setText(). Looks like the default behavior is for the text to be selected, so that if the user begins typing immediately, the previous text is deleted. I don't want that behaviour; I want the new text to be inserted following the existing text, without the user having to first move the cursor to manually deselect the existing text. Haven't been able find a way to programatically deselect text in a JTextField.

Yes, I've done both of these in the past, and I had tried them before asking the question, but they didn't work this time. Upon further evaluation, I found that an ancestor object was interfering with my "deselection." In fact either of these are perfectly valid, and since they are both a correct answer, I'm splitting the points.
