Browse All TopicsIn my class diagram, Class A calls a method of Class B. Class B uses an instance of Class C.
I have depicted it using the attached image
In the both these cases the arrows that I am using are the same. So it does not depict the relationship correctly. Please let me know how to correct this.
thank you

You should be using a sequence diagram. The "creation" arrow on the sequence diagram goes to the BOX for the class instance being created.

Should have explained more...
Class diagrams are for static relationships, such as inheritance (is-a) and composition (has-a). e.g. a Honda is-a Car; a Car has-an Engine.
Sequence diagrams are for dynamic messaging (execution). They show calls, instantiation (creation), ... in order of execution.

Hi again,
As you stated 'I do not intend to depict which method is called.' I presume you do not wish to see which method is called...
The first relationship from A to B in your last posted diagram is a Dependency relationship. This means that A uses a B to perform some task or event.
The second relationship from B to C in your last posted diagram is a composition relationship. This is very strong relationship that basically says that Class C is part of Class B. On this occassion class B may own class C and so when Class B is destroyed usually class C is destroyed as well.
The main relationships in UML Class Diagrams are:
Dependency
Association
Aggregation
Composition
Generalisation
Hope this helps,
