Well, it all depends on how you want to interact with the USB port and what you will attach to the USB port.

There is no simple solution and there are few components/libraries that will allow "general" use of the USB port. It is pretty much specific to the device attached. I have seen a USB Human Interface library on SourceForge. The link below.
