The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Hi all,

I recently migrated an application developed under platform Delphi 6 to Delphi 2006 and now I encountered a problem since two weeks :

This application randomly crashes and closes without displaying error messages. After a few tests, Ive got this message in debugging mode :

" Debugger fault notification

Projet c:\toto.exe faulted with message:'access violation at 0x4da2ef6d: read of address 0xbfc8e3e8'. Process stopped. Use Step or Run to continue. "

This message displays when I try to update datas with instruction Query Updates. No problem to read. Unfortunately, This occurred at different places of the program and not systematically.

A MS SQL Server 2005 database is used and datas are accessed with a DSN entry mapped by BDE.

I use the following instructions : TDatabase (connection), TwwQuery (data manipulation) and TUpdateSQL (updates).

This applications runs under Windows XP (SP2 or SP3).

Here is BDE configuration :

  - Drivers --> ODBC --> SQL Server :

    Version             : 5.0

            TYPE                : SERVER

            DLL                 : IDODBC01.DLL

            DLL32               : IDODBC32.DLL

            ODBC DRIVER         : SQL Server

            BATCH COUNT         : 200

            BLOG SIZE           : 64

            BLOBS TO CACHE      : 128

            ENABLE BCD          : FALSE

            ENABLE SCHEMA CACHE : FALSE

            MAX ROWS            : -1

            OPEN MODE           : READ/WRITE

            ROWSET SIZE         : 20

            SCHEMA CACHE SIZE   : 8

            SQLPASSTHRU MODE    : SHARED AUTOCOMMIT

  - System --> INIT :

    AUTO ODBC              : FALSE

            DEFAULT DRIVER         : PARADOX

            LANGDRIVER             : 'ascii'ANSI

            LOCAL SHARE            : FALSE

LOW MEMORY USAGE LIMIT : 32

            MAXBUFSIZE             : 2048

            MAXFILEHANDLES         : 192

            MEMSIZE                : 32

            MINBUFSIZE             : 128

            MTS POOLING            : FALSE

            SHAREDMEMLOCATION      :

            SHAREDMEMSIZE          : 4096

            SQLQRYMODE             :

            SYSFLAGS               : 0

            VERSION                : 4.0

I tested many BDE configurations, checked the last version of MDAC and updated the MS SQL Native Client.

If someone can help me&
