query a table and put the record in a stringlist

i have a table A and one field call holidaydate (datetime)
for the speed and use less resources purpose i wonder can i actually query the table A and put the holidaydate in a stringlist first and then whenever i want to use it i go to stringlist.
I think with that way i dont have to keep creating the SQL and going to dbs to extract n check the holidaydate.HOw to implement ho....
