How to check if image file exists at URL?

Dear Experts, i would like to check whether image file exists on server URL and ready for download. I need a quick function with error handler if there is no such file. I tried different solutions, but sometimes i recieved an error Connection failed. So this function should check for stable internet connection and check the existence of the file. Please help!
