Encoding Strings

I want to write a Password - String down in a untyped file. The Passwords is a String[30]. My Problem is, it is too easy to rip that information. You just neen to view the file with a good editor and you will find the password sooner or later. So how can i scramble this string ?

Hi omsec,
Simplest encryption is add a letter to each letter in the
string, when reading take one letter back in the alphbet

ill. :  HELLO  --> IFMMP

You can always find better ways to encrypt.
