The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. OpenGL rotations and translations

Hello,
  I am having some problems with some OpenGL code.  This is very hard to explain so please bear with me.
Imagine I have an aeroplane in front of me, and the planes left side is facing me.  I want to walk to the cockpit and turn right to face the wing.  Easy.  The below code allows me to do this.

   ViewRotate := CreateRotationMatrix(MakeAffineVector([0, 1, 0]), ry);
   glMultMatrixf(@ViewRotate);

   ViewRotate := CreateRotationMatrix(MakeAffineVector([0, 0, 1]), rz);
   glMultMatrixf(@ViewRotate);

   glTranslatef(wx, wy, wz);

   glMultMatrixf(@SceneMatrix);

My problem is...... now I'm looking at the wing if I walk forward (translate) I move as though I'm still facing forward (I continue to walk towards the cockpit while still looking at the wing).  

This is not what I want.  I want to look at the wing (rotate) and when I walk (translate) I want to walk towards the wing.

If I put the translate before the rotation I do walk to where I'm looking, but (it seems) the rotation is always calculated from the starting point (identity).  SO if I walk to the cockpit and turn to my right I move a huge amount.  This is because the radius of the rotation is larger because I have moved and then calculated.

I really hope this makes sense...
