The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Delphi: making modular apps

Asked by harveykane in Delphi Programming, Plug Ins

I'm writing a Delphi program with lots of features, each feature self contained on it's own tabsheet. Some of these features will be useful to people, some not.

Ideally, I would like to be able to distribute the generic exe file, and whatever "module" files they want. Ideally, if they want a module added/removed, this should be as simple as putting/removing another file in the program directory.

Code might look like this...
If FileExists(x) then Add Tab X
If FileExists(y) then Add Tab Y
etc

Each tab (module) will be self contained, but may need to refer to a component in the main exe - eg just using one DB Connection component for the whole app.

What is the best approach to take with this?

I'm hoping to achieve the following. I'm not sure if this is all possible, but I'm looking for ideas on how to approach the problem.

-Making say 10x 1Mb modules rather than a 10Mb exe - easier to distribute.
-App can be customised with only the modules the user wants
-Modules can be added without having to recompile
-Easy to add/remove modules for people who want them
-I'm not trying to police what modules people can install - if they have the file then they can use it.
