I tried to do this, but only appears inside first row!

Or you can redefine the WM_Paint behaviour via redefining the windowproc of the DBGrid1 and drawing the message when the dataset is empty:

yes i agree you can put a component like a panel and when your DBgrid is empty :
the panel.caption :='Sorry, the DBGrid is empty...';
so the panel is visible when the dbgrid is empty else it is hidden .
why a component ? because youc control it by puting it on the left , right , centre , top ... side .
that's the easiest way
