Windows Service Applcation with Interface

I need to develop a Windows Service Application, in Delphi (6-2005 pref) for the first time. I intend for the user interface (UI) to be on the same PC as the application itself.

While there are a few service application examples in Delphi on the net, I have not found one with a UI as part of it , thus I'm looking for a "heads up" to help me get started on this.

Question : What is the best way to connect the UI to the core app ? TCPIP ? WM_CopyData ? Somethign else ?

Does anyone have an example of this - a service application with a user interface part too ? I don't really care whether the application is single or multi-threaded (single will probably be fine for me), or how simple it is - I just find it so much easier and more efficient to start off with something that already works - I'd happily go to full points for a working example with a UI
