I understand that I have to be very careful about 3rd party control compatibility with the version of Delphi/Rad Studio!

Thanks.

all the components for delphi are version specific
they use packages which are version dependant

so if you get a new delphi version, you need to get the corresponding component for that delphi version

i believe all versions should work on w7
otherwise you'll have to wait on a update pack
or post a message on the embarcadero forums for assistance

I too believe that all versions should work on Windows 7. I've got Delphi 5,7, 2007 on Vista 64, and tested 2005 and 2009 also. Vista 64 is very close to Windows 7. Like it, it does not have old 16 bit support anymore, which is why both are a little bit responsive than Vista 32.
I had problems with the installation of D2007 though, because of the installer relying on a 16 bit application at some point !!!
I've heard/read that the next generation of Virtual Computing applications could emulate XP and 16/32 OS (or others) at such a level that you could run even old applications in such a "Virtual Machine" but in a specific Windows exactly as if it was running on the host OS (i-e there is no need for a Windows containing the virtual screen). Should be funny and helpfull to compensate for the Vista64/Windows7 limitation to 32bits & above, for those professional users that still have old software to run

I understand this is a difficult question to answer unless you have experience with this issue.  I have a beta version of Win 7.  I'll install it and see what happens.

Thanks for taking the time to give more than a Yes/No answer.

Upped points.
