With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

The Grade of the Solution
The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
The Number of Author and Expert Comments
The Number of Experts Contributing
The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Perl/Tk system command blocking

Gents:

I have a Perl/Tk application that uses the system() command and/or back ticks a filesystem command. When these commands are called, the GUI freezes up. This is annoying, but if another window is raised on top of the Perl/Tk GUI it wipes out the window giving others users the impression that it has crashed (until the $mw->update; occurs). For example:

`ping -c 300 google.com >> ping_google.com.txt`

This will block the GUI for 5 minutes with the affects listed above. I also cat the file to a listbox for display for the user. Other utilities are of a longer duration, perhaps a couple hours, and the affects above cause a lot of concern.

I have unsuccessfully tried the ExecuteCommand and would appreciate any words of wisdom!
