streamwriter adding strange characters

Hi

I am using the following code to create a text file
        Dim FileOut As System.IO.StreamWriter
        FileOut = My.Computer.FileSystem.OpenTextFileWriter("c:\test.dxf", False)
        FileOut.WriteLine("Test")
        FileOut.Close()
The problem is that streamwriter is adding characters 239, 187 & 191 before th string "Test"
These characters are not visible in a text editor and I only discovered they were there by using a hex editor.
I am writing DXF files and Autocad is throwing the files out because of these added characters.
All help much appreciated.

Must be the encoding.

Why not use:

        My.Computer.FileSystem.WriteAllText(file,text , False, System.Text.Encoding.ASCII)

so you won't have the extra lines.

But if you can change your code to

       FileOut = My.Computer.FileSystem.OpenTextFileWriter("c:\test.dxf", False,System.Text.Encoding.ASCII)
