Hi,

Login script that can uninstall Winrar.
Anyone can help with a script that can uninstall Winrar on startup.

Log the report of uninstall into a log filer in a UNC path.

Please give the attached code a shot. Just adjust the first variable to be the path to the logfile you want to record the computer name. Let me know if this doesn't work or you need anything else.

Also, once you're done testing remove Msgbox "Complete." to have it be silent.

Unfortunately, the winrar uninstall.exe doesn't seem to function correctly. According to their site you should be able to call uninstall.exe /setup /s to remove but it doesn't work. Googling I found uninstall.exe /s but that also doesn't work. The only was I can find is to execute the uninstall. but then the user gets prompted yes or no. Here is the code

Still no luck

Cant we just trigger this
C:\Program Files\WinRAR\uninstall.exe
and select some silent switch...

The command its sending is "C:\Program Files\WinRAR\uninstall.exe" /s. On my machine, it wouldn't work with /s. Had to just call it and hit yes at the prompt. Can you confirm what version of winrar you're using?

When i run this no change at all

When i run this i get the yes/No box

Unfortunately, I can't rpelicate this. I downloaded the newest version of the software (3.9) and executed the code I provided. It works perfectly. It runs as "C:\Program Files\WinRAR\uninstall.exe" /s. Can you upload the installed for the version you have?

Ok, its version specific as far as if it will accept the command-line to be silent. How does this work for you:

1. if winrar is installed, silently install winrar390
2. call silent uninstall

I just tried this and it worked. If thats ok, I can code it up now.

yes, exactly. Install winrar390 if an older version is installed, then silently uninstall. I tested installing 390 over 300 silently then removing silently and it worked.

should work the same, but would just try once on each to confirm. The program files path didn't change in vista/windows 7.

I have Vista here and just tested it successfully. Don't have 2008 or windows 7 to test.
