Something simple like this should do it for you. Just put the unc path before %computername%.txt

echo %username%>>%computername%.txt
date /t >>%computername%.txt
time /t>>%computername%.txt

Thanks
Say some one has logged into another machine via Mstsc
then the current machine,Current user,Remote machine,Remote machine user name used to login with date and time is needed.

by: Bartender_1Posted on 2009-11-02 at 09:31:02ID: 25721447

You could add this to the login script if it's a batch file:

net use z: \\<server>\<path to file you want to save log file to>
echo %username% has logged onto %computername% at %time% on %date%>>z:\logfile.log
net use z: /delete

Hope this helps!

Bartender_1 but this will not record the Mstsc session

by: xxdcmastPosted on 2009-11-02 at 09:45:32ID: 25721614

Yes it would. As long as you set it to a login script. Any time the user logs into any machine the login script will apply.

by: bsharathPosted on 2009-11-02 at 09:51:09ID: 25721675

But
It does not give me the from machine and to machine details
Like
Say i am connecting your machine
Then
The log has to be as
Sharath from Sharath_Machine accessed xxdcmast with user name Sharathty

For the users that are logging in via mstsc, why not enable the logging?

an easy way to do this is to create a logon script that records when a user has logged on or off a machine..
The script below was grabbed off of the "Hello, Scripting Guy" website.. not exactly sure of the URL, but the concept is that it is set as a logon and logoff script.

So when the user logs on, the username and date/time is recorded in the Description field of the computer in Active Directory. You'll have to make sure that domain users have "write" privileges to the computer description field in Active Directory.

Then you can just go into Active Directory and see who's logged onto what machine by just searching/querying their username.

And if the Description field is currently in use, you can use other fields (see my previously posted question)
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/File_Servers/Active_Directory/Q_24777191.html

'This is the logon VBS.. logoff looks similar except the text says "logged off:"

Set objSysInfo = CreateObject("ADSystemInfo")

Set objUser = GetObject("LDAP://" & objSysInfo.UserName)
Set objComputer = GetObject("LDAP://" & objSysInfo.ComputerName)

  strMessage = objUser.CN & " logged in on " & Now & "."

objComputer.adminDescription = strMessage
objComputer.SetInfo

woops.. correction on the code. don't use adminDescription field (it won't work) -- use "description" instead

'This is the logon VBS.. logoff looks similar except the text says "logged off:"

Set objSysInfo = CreateObject("ADSystemInfo")

Set objUser = GetObject("LDAP://" & objSysInfo.UserName)
Set objComputer = GetObject("LDAP://" & objSysInfo.ComputerName)

  strMessage = objUser.CN & " logged in on " & Now & "."

objComputer.description = strMessage
objComputer.SetInfo

Sharath, for this one, can you use the script from here:http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Languages/Q_24823030.html

and change the strLogFile to \\server\share\%username%.txt
and just remove the
If LCase(objNetwork.UserName) = "administrator" Then
filter?

Regards,

Rob.

strLogFolder = "\\server\share\DomainLogonLogs\"
If Right(strLogFolder, 1) <> "\" Then strLogFolder = strLogFolder & "\"
Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Const intForAppending = 8
Set objNetwork = CreateObject("WScript.Network")
Set objShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
strLogFile = strLogFolder & objNetwork.UserName & ".txt"
Set objFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile(strLogFile, intForAppending, True)
If Left(UCase(objShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%SESSIONNAME%")), 3) = "RDP" Then
	objFile.WriteLine Now & vbTab & objShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%CLIENTNAME%") & " accessed " & objNetwork.ComputerName & vbTab & objNetwork.UserName
Else
	objFile.WriteLine Now & vbTab & objNetwork.ComputerName & vbTab & objNetwork.UserName
End If

For strLogFolder, specify just the folder where you want the user text files to be placed.

Ron its perfect
Can i have more error checking please...So that in any case it does not error on the client end

by: RobSampsonPosted on 2009-11-10 at 17:17:04ID: 25791660

Sure, you may as well put
On Error Resume Next
right at the top for this one.

If the file cannot be created, then you won't be able to output anything anything, so the On Error Resume Next will prevent errors showing.

Rob.
