here,

just change line 1 with info from your group

strContainer = "CN=yourGroup,OU=YourOU,DC=YourDomain,DC=YourSufix"
Set objGroup = GetObject ("LDAP://" & strContainer)
WScript.Echo "Description: " & objGroup.Get("Description")
WScript.Echo "Created: " & objGroup.Get("whenCreated")

Replace line 3 with this one

WScript.Echo "Description: " & Join(objGroup.Get("Description"))

this script will only get the info from 1 Group, and you have to pass it's distinguished Name on line1.

I'll get right back to you with the query to search for every group

by: bsharathPosted on 2009-11-04 at 03:34:28ID: 25738263

I want for just 1 OU
I have the code as this changed

strContainer = "OU=Che bution Groups,DC=group,DC=co,DC=uk"
Set objGroup = GetObject ("LDAP://" & strContainer)
WScript.Echo "Description: " & Join(objGroup.Get("Description"))
WScript.Echo "Created: " & objGroup.Get("whenCreated")

by: x-menPosted on 2009-11-04 at 03:41:10ID: 25738303

again, change line1:

ex.: for the experts.com domain:

strContainer = "DC=experts,DC=com"

If you want to narrow the search from the root OU "groups":

strContainer = "OU=groups,DC=experts,DC=com"

strContainer = "OU=MyOU,DC=myDomain,DC=MySuffix"
On Error Resume Next
Const ADS_SCOPE_SUBTREE = 2
Set objConnection = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
Set objCommand =   CreateObject("ADODB.Command")
objConnection.Provider = "ADsDSOObject"
objConnection.Open "Active Directory Provider"
Set objCommand.ActiveConnection = objConnection
objCommand.Properties("Page Size") = 1000
objCommand.Properties("Searchscope") = ADS_SCOPE_SUBTREE
objCommand.CommandText = "SELECT distinguishedName FROM 'LDAP://" & strContainer &"' WHERE objectCategory='group'"
Set objRecordSet = objCommand.Execute
objRecordSet.MoveFirst
Do Until objRecordSet.EOF
    strDN = objRecordSet.Fields("distinguishedName").Value
	Set objGroup = GetObject ("LDAP://" & strDN)
	WScript.Echo "Name: " & objGroup.Get("cn")
	WScript.Echo "Description: " & objGroup.Get("Description")
	WScript.Echo "Created: " & objGroup.Get("whenCreated")
	Set objGroup = Nothing
	objRecordSet.MoveNext
Loop

ok

Line 1: strContainer = "OU=Che bution Groups,DC=group,DC=co,DC=uk"

you should get the list of groups in that OU with the info you need

the first script would work for 1 group within 1 OU, like Group MyGroup in OU Che bution Groups:
strContainer = "CN=MyGroup,OU=Che bution Groups,DC=group,DC=co,DC=uk"

got it?
