How to create transparent splash screen?

I thought this was going to be a 10 minute job, but its not the first time Ive misunderestimated something.

Ive created a transparent .png, basically a rectangle with rounded corners, what I want to display as a splash screen. The only parts that need to be transparent is the corner bits outside the rectangle.

Ive created a TForm & set the BorderStyle property to bsNone.

Ive placed a client-aligned TImage on the form and set its Transparent property to true.

Im loading the png into the TImage & it displays fine, except for the lack of transparent corners as described above.

Ive tried setting the form color to clOlive & setting the forms TransparentColor to true & TransparentColorValue to clOlive. Other than making the form really ugly at design time, this has had no effect.

Setting the forms Alpha blend value results in everything being transparent which is not what Im after.

Ive also tried the above using Graphics32s TImage32 with no better results.
