With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. NEED better query for paging purposes

Hello,
Ok, I have a query below that i'm trying to use to learn/understand paging queries in MSSQL/ACCESS DB.  I'm used to mysql and i never have any problem with that although i'm very new with ACCESS/MSSQL; problem is i have a windows program i'm writing that needs a paging query.

i hate that it's not like mysql which has the LIMIT clause but oh well.  so here's my problem.  the query below does indeed work but man is it slow.  it takes like 5 or 6 seconds to query a table that has 25,000 rows in it.  it looks as if the problem is in the ORDER BY clause..if i take out the ORDER BY clause then it's intant.  i hate having to rely on subqueries to simply choose a range of rows like 1 - 10, 10 - 20 etc etc.
can someone provide a better alternative to what i have here and something that is quick and not slow like this one is??  i've tried this query from directly within access 2007 and it's slow...
any help with this is greatly appreciated!!!
