No, it's really not an issue with the access database. In vb6 it loads quickly, but in vb2005 it loads slowly. Its vb2005 and how it handles the data.
So all I really need it a SQL statment that will allow me to load say the first 100 records, then load the other 5000 records. Its a small table, less than 25 fields.
That is what would work best for me.

I would question why the form opens slowly with all 5006 records. I have forms bound to tables with I meg+ records with no problems. Is LastName indexed? How many fields in the table Employees?

Speed up Form
First run the performance analyzer (tools, Analyze, performance). You can select just the queries and forms that are causing problem but I would recommend selecting everything and see what it comes up with.
