The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

unable to merge option table in with flat table after ACCPAC upgrade

Tags: Business Objects, Microsoft, Crystal Reports, SQL, v11, 2000, SQL query
Having upgraded to ACCPAC 5.4 from 5.2 the introduction of options tables is new and I need some help.

I have a Order Entry table called OEINVH for header and OEINVD for details.
The NEW table is OEINVHO for user selectable options.
The previous query was quite straightforward: no query, just the two tables OEINVH & OEINVD.

But now with the addition of the options table, I need it included, the format is below:
OEINVHO
    INVUNITQ    -    invoice primary key
    OPTFIELD    -    Optionfield name
    VALUE         -     Value of option.

Now, we have two entries, Salesperson and Company, named CUSTSSP and CUSTSCUS respectively which need be reflected in the query.
So I tried this query:

SELECT DISTINCT "OEINVH"."CUSTOMER", "OEINVH"."INVNUMBER", "OEINVH"."INVFISCYR", "OEINVH"."INVFISCPER", "OEINVH"."INVUNIQ",  "OEINVD"."CATEGORY", "OEINVD"."ITEM", "OEINVD"."QTYSHIPPED", "OEINVH"."PONUMBER",  "OEINVHO"."INVUNIQ",  "OEINVHO"."OPTFIELD", "OEINVHO"."VALUE"
FROM   "OEINVD", "OEINVH" JOIN "OEINVHO" ON "OEINVH"."INVUNIQ" = "OEINVHO"."INVUNIQ" AND "OEINVHO"."OPTFIELD" like 'CUSTSCUS'

but get three fields for each return item and I dont know how to reduce the set, I suspect a nested query but need some direction.

Thanks for the suggestion,

I tried this

SELECT DISTINCT "OEINVH"."CUSTOMER", "OEINVH"."INVNUMBER",
"OEINVH"."INVFISCYR", "OEINVH"."INVFISCPER", "OEINVH"."INVUNIQ",
"OEINVD"."CATEGORY", "OEINVD"."ITEM", "OEINVD"."QTYSHIPPED",
"OEINVH"."PONUMBER", "OEINVHO"."INVUNIQ",  "OEINVHO"."OPTFIELD",
"OEINVHO"."VALUE"
FROM   "OEINVH"
INNER JOIN "OEINVD" ON "OEINVH"."INVUNIQ" = "OEINVD"."INVUNIQ"
INNER JOIN "OEINVHO" ON "OEINVH"."INVUNIQ" = "OEINVHO"."INVUNIQ"

and I do get all the info, however I get three lines, one with "OEINVHO"."INVUNIQ",  "OEINVHO"."OPTFIELD" and one with "OEINVHO"."VALUE", how would I display them all in one line?

COMPANY,INVNUMBER,INVFISCYR,INVFISCPER,INVUNIQ,CATEGORY,ITEM,QTYSHIPPED,PONUMBER,INVUNIQ,OPTFIELD,VALUE
MULTI1,INV000004,2008,8,2239065,DCS,WidgetA,49.0000,PO00001,2239065,CTIISSUED
MULTI1,INV000004,2008,8,2239065,DCS,WidgetA,49.0000,PO00001,2239065,CUSTSCUS,Cust1
MULTI1,INV000004,2008,8,2239065      DCS,WidgetA,49.0000,PO00001,2239065,CUSTSSP,SalespersonA

instead of:
COMPANY,INVNUMBER,INVFISCYR,INVFISCPER,INVUNIQ,CATEGORY,ITEM,QTYSHIPPED,PONUMBER,CTIISSUES,CUSTSCUS,CUSTSSP
MULTI1,INV000004,2008,8,2239065,DCS,WidgetA,49.0000,PO00001,2239065,,Cust1,SalespersonA

Any ideas?

you need to include a udf here as in code snippet
and call the function in the query

SELECT DISTINCT "OEINVH"."CUSTOMER", "OEINVH"."INVNUMBER",
"OEINVH"."INVFISCYR", "OEINVH"."INVFISCPER", "OEINVH"."INVUNIQ",
"OEINVD"."CATEGORY", "OEINVD"."ITEM", "OEINVD"."QTYSHIPPED",
"OEINVH"."PONUMBER", dbo.fn_return (OEINVH.INVUNIQ)

FROM   "OEINVH"
INNER JOIN "OEINVD" ON "OEINVH"."INVUNIQ" = "OEINVD"."INVUNIQ"

Thanks for the suggestion imran_fast but I was looking for a SQL solution that will transport to crystal. If I could use Views in SQL, it would make life a lot easier, but thats at least 3 months away. So I am unable to use udf's currently.
The actual feature of Crystal is called the  'command' feature which allows a custom query to be used instead of direct table access, there is scripting available in 'crystal' lang but thats post processing and not transportable either.

If you can create this UDF than simply call the sql statement as suggested other wise use this

9:
SELECT DISTINCT "OEINVH"."CUSTOMER", "OEINVH"."INVNUMBER",

"OEINVD"."CATEGORY", "OEINVD"."ITEM", "OEINVD"."QTYSHIPPED",
"OEINVH"."PONUMBER", ISNULL(A.VALUE,'')+','+ISNULL(B.VALUE,'')+','ISNULL(C.VALUE,'')
FROM "OEINVH"
INNER JOIN "OEINVD" ON "OEINVH"."INVUNIQ" = "OEINVD"."INVUNIQ"
INNER JOIN "OEINVHO" A ON "OEINVH"."INVUNIQ" = "A"."INVUNIQ" and A.OPTFIELD = 'CTIISSUED'
INNER JOIN "OEINVHO" B ON "OEINVH"."INVUNIQ" = "B"."INVUNIQ" and B.OPTFIELD = 'CUSTSCUS'
INNER JOIN "OEINVHO" C ON "OEINVH"."INVUNIQ" = "C"."INVUNIQ" and C.OPTFIELD = 'CUSTSSP'

You also might simply add a where clause

 "OEINVHO"."OPTFIELD" like 'CUSTSCUS'

aha, aliases, nice.
And here I was looking up nested queries...

Anyway, I'm unsure if that ISNull option exists in 2000, but works if taken out.

Put the modified one in Crystal and whoola..

I'm a happy man, and thank you.
