Modifying a string within a column

Zones: SQL Query Syntax, MS SQL Server

First, I am using SQL Server 2000. I have 2 columns within a table that need modified. One column is called Actionmade and the other is called Summary. The actionmade column may say: Risk 'ABC.07.00116' was entered or it may say: Risk mitigation step saved. What needs to be modified in that column is the risk number. The incorrect format is: ABC.07.11116. The correct format is: 'ABC.07.116'. So that needs to be modified. In the summary column, there is HTML mixed with the risk number. The risk number needs to be fixed there as well. In both columns, there are some risk numbers that are ALREADY correct. Does anybody know of SQL statements to fix these columns?

Yep, I shoulda thought of that. Text columns can't be used in several of the character functions :-( .
