SQL Like Statement not reporting correct information

Here's my SQL statement:

SELECT *
FROM reportRec
WHERE ID LIKE'(SELECT reportNum FROM reportMPE WHERE MPEName IN ("A-10 UPC v1.1"))%';

I do not get any syntax errors when executing it, but it is returning a blank query. The embedded Select statement returns all the correct information in a seperate test query (which is a report number, such as 5555.555.555.5555). So after that resolves, the SQL statement looks like this, which returns a blank query:

SELECT *
FROM reportRec
WHERE ID LIKE'(5555.555.555.5555)%';

The reason I am using the LIKE statement is because the ID field in the reportRec table contains appended report numbers (such as 5555.555.555.5555.01, .02, .03, etc.) and I would like for the query to return all of these appended reports, hence the % at the end.

Does my logic play out correctly, or should I be going at this in a different way?
