The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Need help joining two columns from two tables, union query?

Asked by c9k9h in SQL Query Syntax

Hello,

I have a table that I need to join with two other tables to pull in first and last names. Essentially what I want to do is add two columns to my main table (first and last name) and pull these values from two other tables where the unique identifier is equal. I have an appropriate (unique)  join on all of the tables. I can't do this using a simple join because it will pull in another set of first and last name columns. My only other option I think, would be to join the two tables (throw all the data in one table) I'm pulling the names from and then join on that table. This is going to be a weekly automated process (eventually) so I'm trying to strip out as much manual work as possible. Would I use a case statement or IF statement to do this? something like: If table1.I_SYS_IDV = table2.I_SYS_IDV and =table3.I_SYS_IDV then...  I'm just not sure where to go here... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Below is the code for the simply inner join which brings in the columns for one of the tables (VLTC917A_CID)

SELECT  *
 from bcpm_ddbo.vltc900a_clm clm

inner join (select i_sys_idv,
                                 n_lst,
                                 n_fst
       from bcpm_ddbo.vltc917a_cid) cida

on clm.i_sys_idv = cida.i_sys_idv

I would like to do the same for table vltc907a_gid and put the data in the same n_lst and n_fst columns
