Question
How can stop an insert if a similar record exists within a stored procedure
I have a stored procedure which simply inserts a record into a table.
I would like to make this conditional where the record will only be added if another record in that table with the same value does not exists.
I imagine I have to do a select prior to the insert, but I'm just not sure of the syntax.
So I'm inserting a record only if the field Customer doesn't already have a customer with with the same name.
