Question

Access query using Count function - if nothing to count show 0

I have query that I am using to count all records that have the answer of "Canada".
If there are no answers of Canada nothing shows in the query because jsut the count shows.

How can I show the value of 0 instead of a blank query

Try this. It will work only in msaccess.

SELECT (DCount("answer","tblAnswers","answer='Canada'")) AS Quantity
FROM tblAnswers
GROUP BY (DCount("answer","tblAnswers","answer='Canada'"));


Why are you using the join in your code?

Try this:

SELECT Count(([answer])) AS TotalCanada
FROM tblAnswers INNER JOIN tblRptCount ON tblAnswers.Country_ID = tblRptCountMulti.Countryl_id
where tblAnswers.answer = "Canada"

I want it to show 0 if there is not an answer of Canada. If there is no Canada I get the result of nothing

I have a join because depending on what surveys we want to look at how many are choosing Canada
