Delete a specific row

I simply want to delete a specific row from an sql 2000 table.  (I have duplicated records, the only thing that is unique is the row number)

What do I use as a column name for the row number?  (I get stumped by the silliest stuff).

delete from MyTable where (row?) = '1234'

That example has you create a table with a column called myID.  I don't have such a column.

every column has identical information in it for two records.  The only thing that would be unique is the record number.  I just can't seem to find out how you would refer to it.

Row does not work, id does not work.....  There must be some way to select by row number.

In SQL 2005 there's ROW_NUMBER, but ROW_NUMBER() is  not available in 2000 version of SQL server..

Alternatively you can use temperory table with identity column to accomplish this..

eh...

That would select it into a temp table.  But I need to delete the record from the original table.

Pretty amazing to me that there is not a simple way to do this.  I'm just going to delete both records and reinsert one back in.  Thanks for trying.  I'll give you the points for the effort.
