The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Hielo - Want to add please wait message/graphic to ajax request process

Asked by owenparker in Asynchronous Javascript and XML (AJAX), JavaScript, PHP Scripting Language

I have been looking at some samples of this, but none match up with the method I am using enough for me to get them working so, I guess that's why I buy this service.

The AJAX request functions I have used for a long time.  I believe they came to me via Hielo, or he at least helped me greatly in understanding this AJAX stuff enough to use it.  As some of the requests take as long as 5 secs, I wanted to add a please wait graphic/message to give tyhings a finished look and to give users something to look at to distract them from re-clicking buttons and such.

Ideally, a graphic/message would pop up in a div over top whatever is going on.  I'm not sure how tricky this is, but I had no luck in being able to do so.

As per usual, I have included the AJAX code and will provide whatever else may be required, although to my mind, it should be as simple as adding something to this code to go with a div in the calling php program, but then, what do I know.  I couldn;t get it to work...

Many thanks in advance for any offers of help I receive in solving this problem...

Regards
Owen
