The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How to load in a external html or xml files div ID's  tag into your current page?

Asked by l_mcnamara in Asynchronous Javascript and XML (AJAX), JavaScript, Extensible HTML (XHTML)

On my current page I have a simple href which calls an external file via ajax which then displays this in a tooltip. So....what's my question?

Well, the way i would like to set this up would be to have one external file with, say 20 or so div in it, all with different ID tags.  So then on my current page with the href, i want to call that page, but target the specific ID to display it's content in the tooltip. So, that's the question, can this be done?

Bit of background on how i've built this so far...
The tooltip was built using the jQuery library and has a nice fade in and fade out effect.
When the tooltip is loading a nice little AJAX request graphic shows.
The AJAX retrieves the data from the external html file and displays it in this tooltip.

The code for the call looks like this:
<a href="#" id="ajax:test.htm" class="help"></a>

href -> this is unused
id -> this is the ajax request call
class -> this just shows the href image that the users hover over to reveal the ajax tooltip.

I await your responses, and please guys, post your code, as i need this fixed asap.
This works perfect at the moment, i just need to target the specific ID so i dont have to have 20 different html files to load in 20 different tooltips.
