  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Hi,

I'm developing a website and i want to add administrator functionality. What i want is an "Administrator login" on the public part of my website, and the user must enter a password to get access to the restricted part of the website. Now, i have a couple of questions :

1. how do i encrypt the password so that only encrypted passwords are send over the internet?
2. how will my cgi scripts know that a user is administrator or not?
3. How do i "automatically logoff" a user?
