Question

Windows: How Can I Clear Network Connections With Script?

Asked by: adwooley2

Hello - I'm looking to clear my network connections with script for a Windows XP client.  I'm using NET USE /DELETE \\server1\share, but need an example (if possible) to use this properly.
Also, I wonder if there is a decent way to clear these network connections absolutely and immediately.

Regards,
Alan

Wow Justin. That's great, thanks! I can't believe I never saw that. It is so simple. It looks like I put way more effort into this than required. Mine still works, but I'd say yours should get the answer for sure. Alan, you can still add the code from my second post to Justin's command to kill the windows afterward if you have a delay problem, but it shouldn't be necessary. The open connection windows should close by themselves.

They only benefit one might have for using my script is that it goes through the connections one at a time, so you could easily add checks if you wanted to, for example, delete everything except the H: drive, or delete all connections only from a particular server. Other than that, you can't beat Justin's for a simple kill all.

by: adwooley2Posted on 2009-03-18 at 07:02:14ID: 23918758

Actually, my particular task is to delete specific connections.  So, in the end, I'm probably going to go with your's, Christopher.
Again, thanks for the help.
Alan

If you need help with any of the logic, like delete serverA but not ServerB or Delete drive Q and Y but nothing else, just let me know and I'd be happy to help.
