Javascript Mouseover Onclick Style Change

Hello everyone - i'm trying to take a javascript that does a mouseover event and when they click an element of the menu, that menu element stays active until another one is clicked. Currently I'm achieving this by changing the img in the html code, i'd like to create a template using a header and footer with php but can't until i get this resolved.

thanks MP for the response. Couldn't i reload a div instead of an iFrame? I don't see where the "target" is specified. i see the href for story.html but the <a> doesn't have an iframe designation.

Currently to achieve this, i have each page developed out and the 'off' image replaced with an 'on' image in the mouse over code. Want the same effect, but want to have one page, as a template. Resizeable and everything.
