Question

Coldfusion + Jeditable "Post Save" Value Not Refreshing

Asked by: bnlf

Hi,

I'm new to jquery and I'm using jeditable for edit-in-place and submitting the values to a coldfusion page to update the values in the database. The problem is when i edit and click save the new value of the string is not shown. Instead it makes the whole coldfusion debug info "editable". The save page is working and the text edited is being updated it just not appear on the screen after i edit it.

take a look at the code.
thank you

I haven't tested this yet, but I believe you need to use their callback function, similar to the following:

<script type="text/javascript">
 $(document).ready(function() {
         $('.edit_area').editable('http://localhost:8500/tag/save.cfm', {
      cssclass   : 'edit_area',
      type      : 'textarea',
      cancel      : 'Cancel',
      submit      : 'Save',
      tooltip      : 'Click to edit...',
      onblur       : 'ignore',
      callback     : function(value, settings) {
         return(value);
     }

  });
});
</script>

oh no its not necessary. The editable() itself should be able to edit and show the edited text without any aditional functions. I figure i just had to "echo" the value just after updating in save.cfm. Heres the new working code:

<!---save.cfm code--->
<cfinvoke component="tag.cfc.model.tag_regionService" method="updateDescript" returnvariable="affectedRows">
        <cfinvokeargument name="tag_reg_id" value="#id#">
        <cfinvokeargument name="tag_reg_descript" value="#value#">
</cfinvoke>
<cfoutput>#value#</cfoutput>
