Currently, there is no way to get rounded corners using javascript (jquery or otherwise) in all browsers in all situations. I recently developed a site and refreshed myself on this area, I found the best solution for an all javascript rounded corners box, was DD-roundies. Note that there are some limitations in what you can do and how you use it should be tested in Internet Explorer 7 and 8, at the very least.

As far as what you're using goes, my guess is it's working ok in Firefox and Chrome because of the CSS properties being added. You can achieve rounded corners in Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Opera by using the CSS properties I've attached below. The jquery rounded corners does have IE limitations, though, like all other javascript rounded corners solutions.
Again, my recommendation is to use DD-roundies.
