Closing jquery div on mouseleave?

The following code displays a div when clicking inside the text field and disappears after 500ms on mouse leave from the text field. But when you try to click on something inside the div it disappears after 500ms because you are away from the field. How can I apply the same mouse leave function to the div so that it stays open when hovering over it and closes when moving away after 500ms?

I tried your solution, but it didn't work for me. It still did the same thing. Once I hover over the div, it closes after 500ms. It should only close after 500ms when I move away from the div or text field.

That worked for me, try adding the if(hide) inside the setTimeout in case it isn't triggered in time

I moved it inside the setTimeout and it stays open when you hover over it now. But it doesn't close when moving away from the div. It only closes when moving away from the text field.

I misunderstood, I thought that is what you wanted

Ok to add when moving away from div change just trigger the hide like so

$(".box").bind("mouseover",function(){
    hide=false;
}).bind("mouseout",function(){
    hide=true;
    $('.showbox').trigger('blur');
