Triming string

I need to trim the string before submitting form. Because I am trying to validate input text within a form. If the input is empty (zero length)  then I dont allow the form to be submitted. My script can do this validation check. But if someone puts spaces in the input field, my script assumes it as a string and can not validate that. So how can I trim the white spaces before submitting? Thanks in advanceStart Free Trial
