Maybe a crazy suggestion, but if you don't know JS, why not use a builder like for instance Dreamweaver by Macromedia, it can build the JS for you and more or less crossbrowser too.

I know the designers in my office use it and do just fine without the help of any programmers (And trust me, they don't know JS at all).

May use this:

if you want to do a menu or learn about how it was made you may download
  http://www.hdfc.com/hierMenus.js
learn about menu structure
  http://www.hdfc.com/homeArrays.js
when
arMenu1 = new Array(
445, // width
154,"12", // coordinates
"yellow","blue", // regular and selected color,
"blue","yellow", // regular and selected bgcolor,
"red","green", // border and separator color
"Corporate Profile","we_corporateprofile.htm",0,
// title, href, submenu
"Management","we_management.htm",1,
"Subsidiary Companies","we_subsidiary.htm",0,

Below code for testing it. Put it in one directory:

Here is what I want to achieve. www.entrust.com

Here is what I have currently
http://www.webreference.com/dhtml/hiermenus/zips/hierMenus310_3full.zip

You may download the files it comes with a 1 page demo.. that displays the menu.

Creating the menu is very easy... I simply want it to stick in one position (the same position regardless of which area on the hotspot was clicked.. my problem is when the user clicks the hotspot... the menu moves to the position that was clicked.. i don't want that.

Please have the files sent to me email.

Thanks

Why you don't use absolute coordinate of the menus?

by: vmolotPosted on 2000-08-31 at 10:50:05ID: 4145947

This is a corrected version of Your
hierArrays.js from hierMenus310_3full.zip
(I've only set X coordinate
of all parent arMenu's to 300):
Now all menus appear at fixed positions
to the right of anchor tags.
