Position the cursor in a text field

Hi

Is it possible to position the cursor in a desired position in a textfield?

To make it more clear: I have a textfield with a value say, ABCDE, when i press tab inside the textfield, i want the cursor tobe placed between D and E.

I use this in a inputfield to make the cursor jump to a certain (30 char right) point when a field get focus:

onFocus="var t=this.createTextRange(); t.move('character',30); t.select();"

Use on click, mouseOver or what ever you like.
