The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Javascript Error, doesn't make any sense at all, and is confusing the hell out of me.

Asked by Pizentios in JavaScript

Hey,

So i have a function:

[CODE]
<head>
      <script language="JavaScript">
      Function MyData( ) {
            //ok so we want to grab the query string stuff and then re-direct the bottom iframe in the main window to display the customers transaction record.
            var args = new Object( );
            var query = location.search.substring(1); //this is the query string.
            var pairs = query.split("&"); //split the query into the var and value pairs.
            for (var x = 0; x < pairs.length; x++)
            {
                  var pos = pairs[x].indexOf('=');
                  if (pos == -1) continue;
                        var argname = pairs[x].substring(0,pos); //grab the argument name
                        var argvalue = pairs[x].substring(pos+1); //grab the argument value
                        args[argname] = unescape(argvalue);      //asign the arguments and values to the object that i created earlyer.
            }
            Alert("The Action is: " + args.action);
      }

      </script>
</head>
[/CODE]

then i call it like this:

[CODE]
<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" onload="MyData( );">
[/CODE]

When the code get's run, i get thses two errors, the second is a side effect of the first:

First Error:
Error: missing ; before statement
Line: 4, Column: 10
Source Code:
      Function MyData()
----------------------^

Second Error:
Error: MyData is not defined

The second makes sense, but the first i have no idea why it's giving the error. I have tried running it in both IE and FireFox, Windows and Linux. I havn't had much luck finding out what is causing this error on the net (ie google) and it's starting to bug the hell out of me. Any ideas? thanks for the help in advance.
