I assume you meant
alert(h)
since alert("h") will only display the letter "h".
Though if I had to guess, I'd tell you to check to make sure you're adding the units. The Gecko-based browsers adhere to the standards, so they expect units for things like heights, though IE lets you get away with it and assumes pixels. If that's not the issue, please post the script or a link, otherwise I'm just taking stabs in the dark. Regardless, hope that helps.

Completely different? Usually the scrollHeight's of the two will be similar, though not identical. Can you post the relevant portion of the HTML that shows the problem you're having (or a link to a live version)?
