Im not really sure, what I need to do?
Main Topics
Browse All Topics I currently, finished creating my website and was wondering how you can record users submitted infomation? My site has a simple text based chat, but users can just logon on with their desired username and password. Currently I am the mod of the chat, and can't ban members/users from my chat, if I dont have the required information. I was thinking about creating a simple sign up form, and insert a "Open Relay SMTP Sever", and get the users submitted information, to be sent my email account. unfortunately, relay servers are very hard to find, even if their are some currently running, they usually have problems or don't work at all. So if anyone has any suggestions on this topic, on how to record users information, or has a list of working relay servers, please answer to this post.
Thank you (EE)

Free services don't generally give access to SMTP - its an invite to being abused by spammers.
Using an open relay is probably illegal - and they get shut down pretty quickly since ISPs hate having hundreds of people complaining about the spam being sent through them.
Windows XP Home does not come with IIS. Windows XP Pro does, but you would have to host your website from the machine your are running XP on.
Best option? Fork out a few quid a month for some basic hosting.
